So if you don't read the description I made on vimeo this is basically a 3D, stylized, Back to the Future Delorean I made not in a 3D program but just in After Effects. I don't know how many shapes it took to make this but all I know is the computers I work with won't render this thing multiple lights. I'm sorry to say I don't have anything new to show at the moment. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can post some artwork on here and maybe some video stuff (video stuff probably a couple of months from now). I just wanted to keep you all informed and know that I know there is still a blog out there with my name on it. I need to start doing some sketching again as well and haven't had the time to do anything with all this video work I have to do. Some Backgrounds and...concept sketches?!

Wow! Lots of stuff here. So this was a project I did a couple of months ago designing some backgrounds for a possible animation (nothing big just something for commercial work). I have all the sketches I did for the project, final sketches, and the final piece. What I really liked about these was they were all done in Illustrator so 100% vector! I think I have said this before on the blog (or somewhere) but I have been so interested in doing vector artwork and hope to do more with it. I think its such an amazing tool to use not only for illustration but in animation and games. Feel free to leave any comments and as always, enjoy!Antastic

So the storyboards were all done with pen, marker, and/or color pencil. The one that looks like screen shots from the movie 2012 are just that. Some concept of using clips from the movie and adding 3D text to it for some presentation. Now the vector drawings are concepts for some event. I really like the top one that looks like watercolor because it was all done in illustrator, with the help of some black and white images. Enjoy!Antastic

Hello out there!So I've been realizing I have been slow on the sketchbook game and haven't drawn in it for such a long time. Hopefully with the holidays upon us, and me staying in doors more, I'll be able to sit down and do a bit more sketching. Now though I have something to show!First is something I sketched in my sketchbook, I don't think I was having a bad day when I drew this...I think the closet colored pencil I had was blue. The others are more of those eye things I posted last week and all done in illustrator! I think I am in love with illustrator right now and plan to use it more for my illustration needs. Its strange that at work, which mostly works with medical products, I get to draw something pretty cool. So here you all are, a robot. The first image was some concept sketches of what the robot could have looked like. The second image was a quick and dirty process of taking one of the sketches and splashing some color on it and the last two is what it has turned into now. Beefy-er and more badass. Also, please excuse me for not posting anything for weeks but know this! Kids Toy Escape...its for the kids....UPDATE

Why yes....another app I did artwork for. Designed for the young folks out there who have parents that let there little ones play with there iPhones and iPads! I'm attaching the art sheet for the game which includes each character and background with in the game. The great thing about this game is there are NO in app purchases, all the characters are unlocked and I think for $.99 on both devices...if I am not mistaken. Anyway take a look at the art, the game, and of course Reverend Lovejoys wife always thinking about the kids ( and hope you all know that I own no copyright to The Simpson image or any trademark :) )

Thought I post some artwork...

The zombie design was something I did last month for "The Boonies", good news for that story though! There is a AWESOME new add on with the story that I think will really make this concept far beyond what I had dreamed it would be. The second drawing is a caricature of my Uncle Roly that I did for him last year for his birthday. I had totally forgotten that I drew this and was looking thru my design folder and found it! So I thought I just throw it on here to give you all some eye candy to look at.

On a side note I found out that this weekend Zombie Breakout was placed in Apple's "New and Noteworthy" for Germany! All very exciting news for everyone involved in the project and glad people in Germany like themselves some zombie crushing. Until next time!

I got great news and art! First I have a game on the app store and not just a game I was contracted to do art for but a GAME! What does this mean? Well it means this is something I created along with a Developer, Matt Doyle, for the last two weeks. Its a real simple game about crushing zombies escaping from their graves. Lots of cool in app items you can get and a nice soundtrack.

I think I have stepped up my illustration game and will be using Illustrator more to create some of my artwork. Why? Because I can! I just have grown a fondness to using illustrator these last couple of months for some of my recent work and not going to lie...it looks pretty good.

So here is a caricature I did entirely in illustrator for someone that is retiring at one of the studios I work at. Sketched it out and did everything in illustrator.

Hey there!

So I'm attaching some old work and a scan from a page from my sketch. Why one page? Well I don't have a good reason why but I liked what I drew so what the hell!

The other images were for a flash game I helped to develop some backgrounds for! Sadly the game didn't get picked up because of cost and need....yeah it sucks but oh well, at least I got to create some cool stuff for it.

Also, I wanted to inform all of you that I have been doing some storyboard work for a company that I have been working for recently. After having done some small illustration work at the company I have now been ask to do storyboards for projects! Not all projects but some. Then I will have some cool artwork to show in the next month or so of a iPhone game I have been working on so look forward to that.

An Oldie but a Goodie

I'm going to attempt to post one new or old piece of art or even sketches I have done at least once a week. So what I have hear is something old but still pretty good! This is actually on my online portfolio where I have a lot more animation stuff that I don't post on here that much but I decided to slap this on the blog for easier access.

These are just a couple of character design studies for some characters in my story "The Boonies" and then the snow-boy expressions are for something else that is still up in the air. I did the snow-boy all with markers and colored pencils and the bottom characters were all done in photoshop. Enjoy and look back next week or even this weekend for some more antastic artwork!

The Dead!

Yeah thats right....two post in one week and its actually something new! So if you all remember I have been doing concept for my animated short/comic book/art-something project called "The Boonies". I am now in the stages of drawing out the three main zombies that Greg and Jessica encounter in interact with the most. The first one is "The Dead in the Suit". This guy has gone through MANY designs and I think my reasoning for choosing this on as its final process is because it shows the dead in their last stages of their undead life.

So what I have here is a little illustration to share with you all that took me about 2 hours to finish off on the computer and about weeks to concept haha. Enjoy!

So I am reading this book about young entrepreneur's and how they all have made very successful business and I was reading one of them that had said roughly "having a blog or youtube page isn't going to get alot of traffic if you don't update it on a regular basis."

Yeah....I've been kind of bad at that. I could say I have a good excuse but I don't. I actually have lots of stuff to share and its both animation and design work. I've been doing lots of animation work like Motion Graphics, titling, and even Flash Animation. Currently I'm working on a iPod game, doing some design work and creating animations. When its all finished I'll put what I have done up here and give you a link to my website so you can view the cools animation on a Flash file I am going to make for them.

And if those of you that didn't know or I never even mention it, this month will be my 7 month working at a Pacific Communications in Costa Mesa, yay! I do motion graphics, animation, and video and sound editing there for lots of medical products. Anyway, I actually had the opportunity to do some illustration work there! I did some illustrations/caricatures of some of the companies higher ups. So I have attached......actual art. Note that the tug boat guy is not my full design. What I had done was take a stock image given to me (the boat, character, water), switch the head out for the person I did the caricature of, edited the image, cutting out the boat and water, doing some color changes, and BAM! you have what you see below. Then I have two versions of the same drawing, one is holding a martini and the other some type of non-alcholoic beverage. I want to give a close up of the hand cause I think that was my most favorite part to draw.

To be honest I hadn't drawn in a while and these were the first fully rendered drawings I had done in months. They have there ups and downs but I'm really glad I was able to draw. Hopefully I will be able to post more drawings in the next couple weeks (some of my own and some of actual work), however, if I don't I do actually have lots of old drawings I never posted online that I might put up, mostly as a filler and for me to type.

Hello out there! So I have been quite busy with lots of animation, motion graphic, video, and art stuff and some of the projects are complete and some are not. So, what I have to show today is some still shots of a project I have been working on that consist of what I like to call 'fake 3D text'. This way I can do 3D text without a 3D program but it is very limited to what you can do. I want to start doing some more 3D with my motion graphic pieces and do intend to do some 3D stuff for my animated short. Speaking of my animated short....I really haven't done much. I did draw out the suited zombie and sketched out what the other two zombies will look like. There is also a script completed but I probably will go back and revise it.....maybe. Anyway, enjoy these images and I will have to say that I was taken back on the lighting effect I could do in after effects.

Yes I am stil alive, just have been working on new projects and supposedly being a 'grown up'. I do, however, have some new stuff to show! Granted these are screen caps from animation and motion graphic projects I have been working on they still some of my artistic ability with them. I have finished a roughs script for the story and will next be doing more drawings of the zombies and some of the surroundings. These were concepts for a potential animated series for a company I worked for a couple of months ago. I think the project is being put on the back burner but I was able to do some development work for one of the many characters. I really have not been drawing that much due to the fact that I have been doing lots more Motion Graphics and Animation stuff lately. Hello out there!

Yeah I know....no artwork but I do have a good excuse for not having any on here for a while. Recently I was hired as a contracted to work at this company, Pacific Communication doing Motion Graphics and Photoshop work. Which is great because I now can have some more commercial pieces in my Motion Graphic reel.

But don't fear followers! I am writing the script for the short 'The Boonies' you have been seeing here for the last couple of post. I have always had the idea in my head but know I need to write it down so I can start making some storyboards too. The Boonies UPDATE

So here is some updates for THE BOONIES. I think I posted a color development for THE VAN but as I am writing this I have not gone to check my blog but here is a newer one with some snazzy background elements! I also have, yes......ZOMBIES!!!

I was getting a little worried about the zombies cause I was drawing them and they were not coming out how I wanted them. Was I going to make them a bit more complicated or give a simpler design that still has some difficulty to it. So what I did was take a look back at my Greg and Jessica drawings and then I got it! Spending an afternoon sitting on the couch I was able to draw about 20 zombies. I also watched Dawn of the Dead (the 1978 version) and used their color palette to use as my own because 1) I LOVE Dawn of Dead and 2) It will be a bit of a tribute for the movie and Mr. Romero himself. Some of the zombies are actual zombies from the movie but in my style and I plan to do a lot more in the actual short too.

I hope you enjoy these new pieces and maybe, just maybe....I might ad some of you people I know into the short as one of the undead.

So The Van....

I am having trouble drawing the interior to The Van because I do not usually drawing interiors or places that much...

So! What I plan to do in the mean time is draw up some zombies for the story and hold back on drawing the interior shots until I am more comfortable drawing those type of images. However, do not think I will just stop and not even try to draw that kind of stuff! Hopefully I can talk to my dear friend Humberto to help me out with the design and look of those places cause I know he can come up with some crazy stuff.

In the mean time I am working on a couple projects for Motion Graphics and Flash Animation so my time is take up during most of the day and that leaves the night for me to draw! Look out for some zombies later on then!

Update on 'The Van'

I wanted to share a update on The Van I am working on. Its basically a turnaround for me to have a pretty cool design piece and to use (hopefully) later on to model but I will find out about that later on. Currently I am working on he interior of the car, the back and front of it and since I don't draw much environments, interiors this is taking some time but I'm sure it will turn out pretty well.

The Van

Here is a preview of what I have for 'The Van'. I know its gas-guzzler but c'mon... what's better than a Ford van with a kick-ass paint job of naked ladies riding a unicorn (which will be on the the van later!) to mow down through some zombie hordes. What I plan to do for the development page for the van is have the side shot shown here, a front and back one, then a fish bowl drawing of the interior of the car which will show all the crap that Greg and Jessica have scavenged through their journey.

So it seems like it has taken a while for me to post another sheet for 'The Boonies' but I have been trying to find actual paying work and that has been taken up my time. Good note is I am looking for 2 to 4 freelance gigs coming up so we will see what happens!

Anyway, here is a design sheet for Jessica. She and Greg have gone through numerous changes and at the moment I am happy where it is going. Look forward to see some props designs for these characters and of course...ZOMBIES! I am going to design some generic zombies that will roam the streets as well as the key zombies that the two characters will be fighting.

Hello out there!

So what I have here is one of my two ideas I have for a animated short. What I plan to do is draw the visual development for both, you know, characters, environments, and other items. That way I will have TWO stories with a bunch of artwork ready to use and of course more pieces to put in my portfolio!

The first one I have here is for The Boonies which is a rename for my Dead Fools idea. As some of you know I really love zombies...really, really, really love zombies! When I thought of my other idea the Dead Fools story just came back to me and I thought making a 2 to 3 minute animation for it would be cool. It will involve the two main characters and a whole bunch of zombies eating, killing, and being blown away!.

Enjoy and keeping looking for more artwork for The Boonies and my second short which I will name when I post artwork for that as well.

Hello out there,

So recently I have been doing lots of freelance work for my character design and motion graphic what not. At my website I have updated my gallery section with lots of new images for you too see which includes some comic characters, animation characters, and caricatures. I just finished doing the art for a Facebook game and hopefully you will be able to see that on my site at the end of the month. I also am working on a comic book that will be used as a prop for a music video and have put the cover for the comic on my website too. I'm also doing lots of work for music videos and will try to by September to post a newly edited Motion Graphics Reel to show the new work I have done. The new work is great because I get to do new things but its hard finding freelancing work too. The pay is alright for some and great for others and hopefully in the future I will get more clients and more work from the ones I'm working with now. Either way its really great stuff I'm working on and I'm using my education and degree to really get into the field then working at 8 to 5 job at McDonalds, right? Well see though...

Hey Everyone,

So I know I have been posting some new stuff but I have not been posting any sketchbook pages and I have done some new stuff a couple months ago. I have also been in a slump with sketch book work and how I draw too. Lately when I draw I do not see anything I do as being good, then I look at other peoples blogs and sketchbook work and tell myself, "why isn't my stuff looking like that?".

Then it hit me: I don't draw like that and I don't have to copy how people draw. I look at how people draw certain things and feel thats how my stuff should look like. I see how people use all these different kinds of mediums and think....hey! I could do something like that haha. So what I get from other peoples work is the type of materials they use. I really like using markers and color pencils, I'm going to try to use some watercolors in my work, and do more hatching with my shading with pencil or marker.

Here is what I have to show and hope you all enjoy. I also really want to get some good work out there to make a physical portfolio to have cause I don't have one and feel I need much better work to put in there. Wish me luck in making some new and cool stuff and hope to see everyone else's stuff on their blogs.

I did this sketch for a test for a project someone was doing but got discouraged in doing more work for them cause 1) I didn't feel like this was working out and 2) I just really didn't get into it.

I might color it but this was just for fun anyway.

Hello out there!

So what I have posted is some old work I did that I never posted and I'm posting now because a) the work I have been doing for the last month cannot be posted online just yet and b) I don't have alot of sketchbook work to show at the moment. I think I wasn't going to post this stuff online because I wasn't done with the comic book BUT since I have redesigned the characters for the billionth time I guess I can show this. I'm looking at it again and feel its some pretty good stuff so might as well share it with all of you!

What I want to Draw...

So I have decided that I need to draw more people, and not the ones I think up in my ye olde head! I keep on drawing my characters and I'm happy how they are turning out but they lack form, gesture, and kick-ass poses. What I'm saying really is I'm going to go out and draw more life drawings, pictures or people I see, do some memory sketches, do more loose sketches to get the form, and eventually come out with a better idea in posing. I'll still draw some new characters in the process but I want to really focus on working up how I draw my characters and how they move.

Don't worry though cause I'm working on a project with some friends and that has some work that I have been doing. Hopefully I will post some of it on here and show what I'm working on cause I haven't been posting much work on here. So look forward to seeing more sketchbook work, character design, and some colored work! To those who follow or read this blog, thanks and stay tuned for some more artwork coming up in the future. Frank Sr.

So at the moment I'm stealing Monster Squad until I can think of something a bit more creative but here is Frank Sr. He is the aging Frankenstein's Monster who is the bodyguard/muscle for the other kid monsters I am drawing up.

I thought it would be funny to draw a older Frank, old man pants, ear piece, 'seeing' glasses, etc. So here he is and hopefully later on in the week I can draw and color the other guys. See ya later then.

Hello Again!

So I haven't posted oh in the last...2 to 3 months and that is a my bad. I have been drawing so don't worry about that and today I would like to share with you 2 caricatures of Jack Black and Taylor Swift. I always enjoyed drawing caricatures so I'm going to get back into it and see where I can go from there.

Also, I have two projects I'm trying to get started. One of them being Oddballs and the other being Code Name: The Shit (working title but it has the word shit in it so you know its badass!). Anyway, I'm going to attempt to post my work either every week or every other week cause I see so many people posting on their blogs that I feel I need to step up and do the same.

Exciting I know, so all you have to do is grab these bad boys, print them, cut them out, and place them on what ever you call a desk! So much fun right!!!
